Vocabulary: AP Psych
Vocabulary in AP Psych is very heavy. Each day we'll attempt to work in class on vocabulary in a variety of mediums. Much of your out of class time will revolve around the reading guides (RGs) which also serve as great tools for vocabulary. In addition to those, you need to spend your time processing and digesting vocabulary notes. Spaced, well organized study sessions will help you versus cramming the night before. It is IMPOSSIBLE to cram 50+ vocabulary terms the night before and expect that information to process in your long-term memory (see Bio unit for evidential proof).
I will post the vocabulary list, and provide one to you at the beginning of every unit. This page will be updated with other reliable resources to review vocabulary. At the end of the day, your book and brain are the biggest resources you have for learning vocabulary.
3-4 days before a unit exam you'll have a vocabulary test. See the pacing guide for tentative dates of each vocabulary quiz.
This serves as a formative check-in for both you and I to see your strengths and weaknesses in a unit and cater your studying to that area.
Vocab quizzes may be conducted online or in-class.
Note Cards--some students enjoy making note cards to study vocabulary. If this is something you do, limit the definition to 6 words. Note cards are also provided with each unit under the specified unit tab (see above). The family leader should have a hard copy and bring them to class on a daily basis.
Quizlet is a tool that can be used to obtain and practice vocabulary terms in AP Psychology. Below is a link to another teacher's Quizlet site. Should you venture off in quizlet, you will find many other teacher sites, and many student created ones. I recommend asking me to verify any new ones, so you do not waste your time.
