Psychology. What is it? Success is...? All that plus the AP Exam.
What is Psychology?
Psychology is the science of behavior and mental processes, and it can help us answer some of the most fundamental human questions: Who are we? What produces our thoughts? Our feelings? Our actions? And how are we to understand and manage those around us?
"The purpose of the AP course in Psychology is to introduce the systematic and scientific study of the behavior and mental processes of human beings and other animals. Included is a consideration of the psychological facts, principles, and phenomena associated with each of the major subfields within psychology. Students also learn about the ethics and methods psychologists use in their science and practice."

What to expect in AP Psychology @ LHS:
You can expect to have fun, while learning about applicable knowledge of yourself, others and how and why we act the way we do through biological processes, social influences, internal and external motivators, with a developmental understanding of humans. We will also assess intelligence, personality traits and differences, the eternal debate of nature vs. nurture, abnormal psychology and the treatments of disorders (modern day and throughout history), consciousness, how we sense and perceive things as well as cognition. Cognition is especially important to learn how and why we make memories and how that can be applied to study habits. Below are the basics of the units of study. For more detailed information, refer to the syllabus, College Board's link below, and each unit's tab available on the top bar.
